Child Abuse

There is a Child Abuse Prevention Law (Jido Gyakutai Boshiho) in Japan.  To be specific, abuse is defined as follows:  1. When parents inflict physical violence and the child is injured.  2. When parents do a sexual act toward the child.  3. When the normal growth of the child is affected or there is negrect on the part of the parents in child-rearing.  4. When parents through words and actions hurt the child emotionally / mentally.  In addition, it is considered child abuse when parents in front of the child show violent actions(DV).  When the possibility of child abuse is high, an Administrative Organ which is called the Child Consultation center (Jido Sodanjyo) can protect and support the abused child.
